Well. This is embarrassing…
err…
The library put my account on hold! I was doing so good! Checking out books! Reading them quickly! Placing holds and returning them for the next person in line!
But now I’ve been lazy/greedy/busy/indifferent/criminal and piled up this gigantic mound of library materials to be returned!!!!
The horror!
Anyways, the library thinks I lost some stuff and they say it costs a lot of money. Thank goodness I know right where it is. Except for that one book…
How can I show my face there?
Oh well.
I’ll fix that TODAY! I’ll make the walk of shame up to the circulation desk and pay my dues. Yes sir, the check is in the mail. Wait, that’s Big Trouble in Little China. Once my contribution to the librarians’ paycheck has been made, I shall check out some more books, which potentially means more reviews. And I have some good books in mind…

OMG! I may not pay my electric bill for two months in a row, but I’d never let my library account get shut off! I have priorities. Ha ha. No actually that’s totally not true (the part about the library, not the electric bill). Back when I was getting my MBA (yes it was almost 20 years ago)I checked out some books and being the young slacker I was back then, I failed to return one of them. I moved around a lot and didn’t settle back into KC until a few years ago. I figured enough time had gone by that my account would be wiped clean, but no. They dug up that info from 20 years ago and put the squeeze on me! Now I’m religious about keeping my account up to date.
Don’t worry, it can easily happen. It goes to show how much you love books, if you hold onto them for that long, lol. I’ve been fined on many an occasion for not returning books on time.
It happens to the best of us! And it is kind of embarrassing…but secretly, the library must love people who have late books. Because otherwise, how would they make money?
Good luck getting you account fixed!
